Now, given that...if Obama lived only 350 yards away from Bernardine Dohrn in 1981 while in New York, what are the odds that he would be living only a couple blocks away from her 25 years later in Chicago - especially if they never met in New York?

*Bernardine Rae Dohrn née Ohrnstein, born January 12, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - grew up in Whitefish Bay (a village in Milwaukee County). Bernardine's father (Bernard) was Jewish and her mother, Dorothy, was a Christian Scientist with a Swedish background.

*William Charles "Bill" Ayers, born December 26, 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois - grew up in Glen Ellyn (a suburb of Chicago and son to wealthy businessman Thomas Ayers).

A coincidence is the noteworthy alignment of two or more events or circumstances without obvious causal connection.

The History and timeline: 1960 to the Present, With Photos, Sub-Notes, and the Original Sources of the Weather Underground

Prologue

Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) started as a student activist movement in the United States that was the main radical representation of the country's New Left. The organization developed and expanded rapidly in the mid - 1960s because of the Viet Nam War and the military draft, before finally dissolving at its last convention in 1969.

1960 - The newly formed SDS (The Students for a Democratic Society) held its first organizational meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan - founded by Aryeh Neier. The SDS was formed from the League for Industrial Democracy (LID) that was originally founded in 1905 by a group of notable socialists including Jack London, Norman Thomas, Upton Sinclair. This is noteable because it's these philosophies that are being invoked through our higher education system today through professors such as Bill Ayers - and has infiltrated into our present political system in America today.

Also in 1960 - Bernardine Dohrn graduated from Whitefish Bay High School, a comprehensive public secondary school located in the village of Whitefish Bay. While there, she was a cheerleader, treasurer of the Modern Dance Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and the editor of the school newspaper. Her father changed the family surname Ohrnstein to Dohrn when Bernardine was in high school.

1961 - Dohrn attended Miami University for one year.

1962 - The political manifesto for SDS was written by 22-year-old Tom Hayden.

This year Dohrn transferred from Miami University to the University of Chicago.

1960 to 1962 - Bill Ayers attended a prep school - Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois (11th and 12th grade).

From June 1962 to Sept 1964 is unclear - Bill Ayers graduated from high school but he hasn't started college yet - does anybody know what Bill's up to? A community college or a job bagging groceries? No SDS activity as of yet? Traveling through Europe, all expenses paid by father?

1963 - (Sept) Dohrn graduated with honors with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in Hyde Park.

(November 22) JFK is assassinated.

1964 - Bill Ayers first moves to Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend the University of Michigan.

In February 1965 the draft became the real factor in the lives of students in America. Campus chapters of SDS all over the country started to lead small, localized demonstrations against the war.

1965 - (March) The first American troops arrived in Vietnam.

(April 17) - SDS organized a national march on Washington, D.C.

(June) - SDS convention at Camp Kewadin and the "Kamikaze Plan" is rejected.

1965 - Bill Ayers is in Ann Arbor at a SDS "Teach-In" rally against the Vietnam War (SDS President Paul Potter is hosting) and Ayers later joined a picket line protesting at a Michigan pizzeria for refusing to seat African-Americans.

Bill Ayers gets his first teaching job shortly afterward at the Children's Community School (CSS). He taught young children using the "Summerhill Method" of education and operated on a low budget out of a church basement.

1966 - Diana Oughton first moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to enroll in the University of Michigan's Graduate School of Education, seeking her Master of Arts degree in teaching. She first met Bill Ayer when she began working part-time at CCS. Soon Oughton "greatly reduced" her community activities to work full-time at CCS - - - Diana Oughton and Bill Ayers had become attracted to one another, and soon began living together. And this is how she became involved with SDS.

1967 - (May) Meanwhile Bernardine Dohrn received her J.D. (Juris Doctor) from the University of Chicago Law School. She went to New York to briefly work for the National Lawyers Guild (a progressive left-wing bar association) that was frequently identified as a legal front organization for the Communist Party.

(October) - John McCain, while on a mission as a US Navy pilot (flying off an aircraft carrier) is shot down over Hanoi and is badly injured, then captured by the North Vietnamese.

As an aside: Also in 1967 Charlie Rangel was general counsel to the Selective Service when troops were being sent to Viet Nam. It had been argued that a supposedly disappropriate amount of "Afro-Americans" were being drafted into the war.

1967 - Also as an aside: Rahm Israel Emanuel and his brothers attended summer camp in Israel, just after the Six Day War (At least somebody's having some good wholesome fun).

1968

1968 - Under Bill Ayer's guidance, the Children’s Community School (CCS) ran into very severe problems (such as the fact that very few students had learned to read) and CCS soon lost all its funding. It was forced to shut down, so Oughton and Ayers sought to become "active" elsewhere.... and with every bit of Bill Ayers' guidance.

Diana Oughton and Bill Ayers lives then became consumed by SDS meetings - organizing and planning "actions." It was during this time (1968) that Bill Ayers and Diana Oughton met *Terry Robbins.

The 1968 annual national SDS convention was held at Michigan State University. Oughton and Ayers were participants sponsored by Eric Chester, who was a Voice-SDS leader in Ann Arbor.

Bill Ayers: "Kill all the rich people! Break up their cars and apartments! Bring the revolution home, kill your parents - that's where it's really at!"

During these meetings Oughton often complained about the role of women in SDS, which was a combination of being a sex-object, an office clerk, and a housekeeper. Later in 1968 Oughton told a friend that while she was away for five days, Ayers had slept with a few other women. She told her friend that she tried to convince herself that it didn't matter, but it did. (Less than two years later she was torn to pieces by a nail bomb.)

1968 - Ayers earned a B.A.(Bachelor of Arts) from the University of Michigan in American Studies.

Meanwhile in NYC - In the spring of 1968, National SDS activists led an effort on the campuses called "Ten Days of Resistance" which culminated in a one-day strike on April 26. About a million students stayed away from classes that day. The NYC media was focused on the student shutdown of Columbia University in New York, led by an inter-racial alliance of Columbia SDS chapter activists and Student Afro Society activists - Acting Columbia University dean Henry S. Coleman was held hostage. Membership in SDS chapters around the United States increased dramatically during the 1968-69 academic year.

August 26 to 29, 1968 - The riots in Chicago during the 1968 Democratic National Convention

(August) - Bill Ayers is arrested for the first time at a SDS sit-in at a local draft board, resulting in 10 days in jail. (I think this is when Bill Ayers first meets Bernardine Dohrn) because I read, "Ayers thought Bernardine was a magnetic speaker and often wore thigh-high boots and miniskirts'." (He burned his draft card)

1969

In mid-June of 1969, the ninth (and final) SDS national convention was held at the Chicago Coliseum. Each delegate was given a manifesto (The Weatherman Statement).

The document's 11 original signatories that formed Weatherman Group are as follows:

But the convention quickly fell into disarray and Bernardine Dohrn led a breakaway meeting, expelled SDS, and then walked out - By the next day, there were two new SDS organizations - "SDS-RYM" and "SDS-WSA."

Bernardine Dohrn had led the "SDS-RYM" faction, and by the fall of 1969 all signatories, to what came to be known as the "Weatherman Statement", constituted the organization’s new leadership of the group - "The Weatherman Group", encompassing the 11 original signatories of the Weatherman Statement. The original Weatherman Group (derived from the Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM), consisted of approximately 200 members in 4 cells located in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Detroit.

To Avoid Any Confusion

Weatherman, known colloquially as the Weathermen and later the Weather Underground (The Weather Group or The Weathermen Group - The Weather Group Organization (WUO) - Whatever reference is mentioned in this post, it's all the same...they are a breakaway group from SDS (Students for a Democratic Society)- expounding a corrupted version of far left wing Socialist/Marxist ideologies, advocating the destruction of the U.S. goverment...and using extreme violence.

Earliest Weatherman Group Actions:

In 1969 Jeff Jones and Mark Rudd met regularly with Communist Cuban Intelligence Personal at the Cuban Mission to the U.N. 6 East 67th Street at Fifth Ave Manhattan NY.

In June of 1969 Bernardine Dohrn met with Communist Cuban Intelligence officer Jose Viera at the Cuban Mission to the U.N. at East 67th Street New York NY.

****(Years later in 2003 - Kendall Myers worked for the same Cuban intelligence service in New York City - the Cuban Mission to the U.N. and her and her husband Walter were arrested for spying on the U.S.)

In July of 1969 Bernardine Dohrn led a SDS contingent to a meeting in Havana with Communist representatives from Cuba and North Vietnam:

The first known trip of significance by SDS members to Cuba occurred in January, 1968 when Carl Davidson, Todd Gitlin, Gerry Long, Susan Sutheim and Tom Hayden traveled to Cuba to attend the International Cultural Congress.

Did Bill Ayers' wealthy father (Thomas) finance their trip to Cuba? Was it Cuban Nationals? Was it from bank robberies by the SDS, Black Panthers, or Black Liberation Army?

(*As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who Dohrn later met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam (Maybe it was John McCain's plane). Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he 'left the room to cry.' He said, "I realized that America was an evil *&^$%#& and that I was living inside the belly of the beast." (Did Ayers later meet "Hanoi Jane too?")

August 9, 1969 - The Manson "family" murderers entered Sharon Tate's home and murdered five people: Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Voyteck Frykowski and Sharon Tate (age 26 and eight and a half months pregnant).

October 6 - 10, 1969 - Bill Ayers helps start the all-out civil war during the "Days of Rage" by bombing a statue commemorating the policemen killed in the 1886 Haymarket Affair.

September 24, 1969 - Chicago Seven (was Eight) Trial begins for those charged in the "Days of Rage" riots related to the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

1969 - Ayers attempted to extort money ($20,000) from the Vietnam Moratorium Committee. When a member of the Moratorium group asked Bill Ayers what he really wanted, "To kill all rich people," Ayers responded. When another peace activist pointed out that Ayers himself came from wealth, he answered: "Bring the war home. Kill your parents."

1969 (December 27 to 31) – Weathermen hold a “War Council” meeting in Flint, MI. Bernardine Dohrn comments about the Charles Manson-led "Sharon Tate - LaBianca Murders"

“Dig It! First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, and then they put a fork in pig Tate's belly! Wild!"

The Weather Underground actually adopted a three-finger (fork) hand salute that commemorated the condition Susan Atkins left Sharon Tate’s body in (a fork stuck in her unborn baby). It's been said that Bernadine Dorn originated the salute. It represented their desired fate for all “rich pigs.”

Many years later in Chicago (while she and Bill Ayers still remained unrepentant), she lamely excused that remark: "...it was a joke. We were mocking violence in America." (She had most likely been on LSD at the time.)

Less than two months later, the Chicago police killed the Weatherman Group's friend, Black Panther member Fred Hampton, in a police raid on his apartment while investigating the murders of police officers.

All the members of the "Weatherman Group" (SDS) then went "underground", and the group then changed its name from "Weatherman Group" to "Weathermen Underground" (called the WUO - for Weathermen Underground Organization). It took its name from the lyric "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows", from the Bob Dylan song Subterranean Homesick Blues which was released in 1965 - It was also the title of a position paper they distributed at an SDS convention in Chicago on June 18, 1969. This founding document called for a "white fighting force" to be allied with the "Black Liberation Movement" and other radical movements.

They all took aliases - Dohrn was Rose Bridges and Ayers became Joe Brown. They concocted ways to obtain false identity papers; grew beards or dyed their hair; moved frequently; and developed a secret code or "Weatherese" to avoid suspicion. The "Weather Underground" became "the Eggplant," "dynamite" was ice cream or "pickles," the nature of their fugitive status.

Bill Ayers and his colleagues Bernardine Dohrn, Kathy Boudin, Ted Gold, Terry Robbins, and Diana Oughton had invented identities and traveled continuously. They avoided the police and FBI, while bombing high-profile government buildings including: the United States Capitol, The Pentagon, and the Harry S. Truman Building that housed the State Department.

Ayers had wandered through remote Midwestern cemeteries, looking for the gravestones of babies who, like them, had been born between 1940 and 1950 but had died shortly thereafter. It was from those headstones that the fugitives would build their new identities. Overall, Ayers figures, he had at least 12 separate aliases while living in 15 different states. (A rich kid with nothing better to do.)

1970 - War on Amerikka - “Bring the war home”

•Dohrn was a principal signatory on the group's "Declaration of a State of War" that formally declared "war" on the U.S. Government, and completed the group's transformation from political advocacy to violent action. "...the WUO is headed towards a red-white army which will attack the U.S. from inside while the Viet Cong attacks from outside...bla, bla, bla..."

•During February and early March, 1970, members of WUO, led by Bill Ayers, are reported to be in Detroit, for the purpose of bombing a police facility.

•February - Dianne Donghi was arrested in Chicago by the FBI on charges of interstate transportation of stolen weapons.

•February 13 - Several police vehicles of the Berkeley, California, Police Department are bombed in the police parking lot.

•February 16, 1970 at 10:45 p.m - Golden Gate Park branch of the San Francisco Police Department in the Upper Haight neighborhood of San Francisco: A bomb that had been planted on the ledge outside a nearby window went off. A well respected 44-year-old police sergeant, Brian McDonnel, had been sorting through bulletins on a teletype machine when he took the brunt of the blast to his body and face. The explosive was packed with inch-long industrial fence staples, which severed his jugular vein and lodged in his brain. He would die two days later without regaining consciousness.

Larry Grathwohl, the former FBI informant in the Weathermen Underground at the time, later told "Accuracy in Media" that he had personal knowledge of the bombing, having testified before Congress that Bill Ayers told him at the time that it was Dohrn who had personally planted bomb. He said Ayers told him that the bomb was placed on the window ledge and he described the kind of bomb that was used to the extent of saying what kind of shrapnel was used in it. (and if Bill Ayers wasn’t there to see it, somebody who was there told him about it, because he had stated it very emphatically...and knew details that only the police could have known.) Either way though, even Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn claimed that they may not have ever meant to hurt anybody, it may appear that they both might have gotten away with murder that day.

•In February 1970 New York State Supreme Court justice Murtagh presided over the trial of “Panther 21,” members of the Black Panther Party indicted in a plot to bomb New York landmarks and department stores. On February 21 three gasoline-filled firebombs exploded at his home in Manhattan, two at the front door and the third tucked neatly under the gas tank of the family car. A neighbor heard the first two blasts and managed to douse the flames beneath the car.

Weatherman Group memebers failed to appear for their March 1970 court dates for their "Days of Rage" arrests.

•March 6 - Thirty-four sticks of dynamite are discovered in the 13th Police District of Detroit, Michigan.

(Was Bill Ayers' still with Diana Oughton at this time, and just "monogamous" with Bernardine? Ayers was known for sleeping around by Dianna's own earlier admission.)

•1970 (March 6) - The Greenwich Village townhouse explosion (in NYC), in which three members of the group (Terry Robbins, Ted God, and Bill Ayers' girlfriend - *Diana Oughton) were killed as a *bomb was being constructed. Catherine Wilkerson and *Kathy Boudin, though slightly injured, escaped the carnage.

*A nail bomb that had been intended for a soldier's dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
*Diana Oughton was later identified days from a fragment of her finger (Bill is NOT with Diana any longer.)
*Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn had eventually adopted Kathy Boudin's son when she later went to prison for the 1981 Brinks robbery.

•March 30 - Chicago police discover a WUO "bomb factory" on Chicago’s north side. A subsequent discovery of a WUO "weapons cache" in a south side Chicago apartment several days later ends WUO activity in the city.

When police raided a WUO bomb factory on Pine Street in San Francisco in 1970, they found the fingerprints of Bill Ayers, Machtinger and Rudd.

•On April 15, 1970 - After attempting to forge checks using a false name, Dianne Donghi and good friend Linda Sue Evans were arrested in New York City. Donghi was arrested in the Greenwich Village hotel room that she had shared with another member, Larry Grathwohl (alias Tom Niehman), with whom she had formed a relationship. Grathwohl was an undercover FBI agent and had to blow his cover in order to make the arrest. She was released the same day on bail.

•May 10 – The National Guard Association building in Washington, D.C. is bombed.

•May 21 – The WUO releases its "Declaration of a State of War" communique under Bernardine Dohrn's name. Dohrn was a principal signatory on the group's "Declaration of a State of War" that formally declared "war" on the U.S. Government, and completed the group's transformation from political advocacy to violent action.

•July -The United States Army base at The Presidio in San Francisco is bombed on the 11th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. On the same day, a branch of the Bank of America is bombed in New York.

•June 6, 1970 - In a letter, the WUO claims credit for the bombing of the San Francisco Hall of Justice, although no explosion had occurred. Months later, workmen located a still intact unexploded bomb.

• June 10 - The New York City Police headquarters is bombed by Jane Alpert and accomplices. Weathermen state this is in response to "police repression."

• On July 23, 1970 - Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers (among others) have been named in Federal warrants issued by the FBI in Chicago Illinois.

• September 12, 1970 – The WUO helps (for a fee of $25,000) psychedelic drug guru Dr. Timothy Leary escape from the California Men's Colony prison and arranged for his transport to Algiers. Leary, in his early 40's, promoted LSD use among young people and coined the popularized catch phrase "Turn on, tune in, drop out." When Leary was re-arrested in 1974, he cooperated in the FBI investigation of WUO in exchange for a lighter sentence.

• October 8, 1970 - Bombing of Marin County courthouse: WUO states that this is in retaliation for the killings of Jonathan Jackson, William Christmas, and James McClain - Black Panthers (Jonathan Jackson raided the Marin Courtroom and tossed guns to prisoners William Christmas and James McClain, as they attempted to escape by taking a judge, assistant district attorney, and three jurors as hostages.)

• October 10 - A Queens traffic-court building is bombed. WUO claims this is to express support for the New York prison riots.

• October 14 - The Harvard Center for International Affairs is bombed by The Proud Eagle Tribe of Weather (later renamed the Women's Brigade of the Weather Underground). WUO claims this is to protest the war in Vietnam. The bombing was in reaction to Angela Davis' arrest and was the first action undertaken by an all-women's unit of WUO.

• December - Fugitive WUO member Caroline Tanker, who fled the country for Cuba, is arrested by the FBI in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

• December 16 - Fugitive WUO member Judith Alice Clark is arrested on the Days of Rage indictments by the FBI in New York.

1971

• March 1 - The United States Capitol is bombed. WUO states this is to protest the invasion of Laos. President Richard M. Nixon denounces the bombing as a "shocking act of violence that will outrage all Americans."

• August 29 - Bombing of the Office of California Prisons, allegedly in retaliation for the killing of George Jackson (another Black Panther).

• September 17 - The New York Department of Corrections in Albany, New York is bombed, as per WUO to protest the killing of 29 inmates at Attica State Penitentiary.

• October 15 - The bombing of William Bundy's office in the MIT research center.

Just an odd thought: Although the Zodiac Killer claimed in letters to newspapers that he murdered as many as 37 people in and around San Francisco from 1968 to 1971, investigators agree on only 7 confirmed victims. Bill Ayers was also in San Francisco (Was DNA evidence preserved?) with the SDS and Weather Underground in the same EXACT time frame.

NOTE: During this time in 1971 a man could qualify for a student deferment if he could show he was a full-time student making satisfactory progress toward a degree. Did Bill Ayers burn his draft card because he had already graduated from college? I wonder what young man died in Bill Ayers' place during the Viet Nam War? In 1971 three of my friends were serving in the army, crawling in the bush of Viet Nam carrying M-16 rifles. My father had just returned after having served two tours of duty, flying forward air support for the troops on the ground.

1972

On August 3, 1995 Bui Tin, who served on the General Staff of the North Vietnam Army, was asked if the American antiwar movement was important to Hanoi's victory. Mr. Tin responded, "It was essential to our strategy."

1973

The army draft has ended and the U.S. converted to an All-Volunteer military. The last combat troops of the United States were pulled out of South Vietnam on 29 March 1973 (and the registration requirement was suspended in April 1975).

• May 18 - The bombing of the 103rd Police Precinct in New York. WUO states this is in response to the killing of 10-year-old black youth Clifford Glover by police.

• September 28 - The ITT headquarters in New York and Rome, Italy are bombed. WUO states this is in response to ITT's alleged role in the Chilean coup earlier that month.

Also in 1973 - John McCain is released from the "Hanoi Hilton" after being tortured for 5 years as a POW.

1974

• March 6, 1974 - Bombing of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare offices in San Francisco.

• May 31 - The Office of the California Attorney General is bombed. WUO states this is in response to the killing of six members of the Symbionese Liberation Army.

• June 17 - Gulf Oil's Pittsburgh headquarters is bombed. WUO states this is to protest the company's actions in Angola, Vietnam, and elsewhere.

• September 11 – Bombing of Anaconda Corporation (part of the Rockefeller Corporation). WUO states this is in retribution for Anaconda’s alleged involvement in the Chilean coup the previous year.

• Bill Ayers (with Bernardine Dohrn) wrote their manifesto *"Prairie Fire", which reads: “Our intention is to disrupt the empire ... to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks...” (blah, blah, blah...)

NOTE: Earlier in 1968 David Axelrod (Obama's campaign manager in 2008) was a 13-year-old campaign volunteer for the short-lived presidential bid of Robert Kennedy, JFK's brother. Ironically, 6 years later Bill Ayers dedicated his book "Prairie Fire" to Sirhan Sirhan, Bobby's killer. Now Axelrod and Ayers are both together in the "Obama Web".

1974 (Oct 18) - In sworn testimony before the U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee (regarding the February 16, 1970 bombing of the S.F. police station) an FBI informant declared, "When he [Bill Ayers] returned, we had another meeting at which time - and this is the only time that any Weathermen told me about something that someone else had done - and Bill started off telling us about the need to raise the level of the struggle and for stronger leadership inside the Weathermen 'focals' [i.e., cells] and inside the Weatherman organization as a whole. And he cited as one of the real problems was that someone like Bernardine Dohrn had to plan, develop and carry out the bombing of the police station in San Francisco, and he specifically named her as the person that committed that act."

The informant added that Ayers said "the bomb was placed on the window ledge and described the kind of bomb that was used to the extent of saying what kind of shrapnel was used in it." He was asked, "Did he say who placed the bomb on the window ledge?" Ayers replied, "Bernardine Dohrn."

According to FBI sources, Grathwohl's testimony was corroborated by another Weather Underground source, Karen Latimer, who apparently had second thoughts about her participation in the violent group's activities and gave her story to the police. Unfortunately, Latimer died sometime later under questionable circumstances.

1975

• January 29 - Bombing of the State Department; WUO states this is in response to escalation in Vietnam. (Escalation?)

• March – The WUO releases its first edition of a new magazine entitled Osawatomie.

• April 30 - The actual Fall of Saigon: The event marked the end of the Vietnam War. The fall of the city was preceded by the evacuation of almost all the American civilian and military personnel in Saigon. MGySgt John J. Valdez (US Marine) was the last man off the roof.

• June 16 - Weathermen bomb a Banco de Ponce (a Puerto Rican bank) in New York, WUO states this is in solidarity with striking Puerto Rican cement workers.

• July 11-13 – The Prairie Fire Organizing Committee (PFOC) holds its first national convention during which time they go through the formality of creating a new organization.

• September – Bombing of the Kennecott Corporation; WUO states this is in retribution for Kennecott's alleged involvement in the Chilean coup two years prior.

• September 2 - In an article for "Osawatomie", Dohrn clearly stated her support for Communist ideology: "We are building a communist organization to be part of the forces which build a revolutionary communist party to lead the working class to seize power and build socialism. We must further the study of Marxism-Leninism within the Weathermen Underground Organization..." (blah, blah, blah...)

...and Bernardine Rae Dohrn had called for socialism in America and to stop all aid to *Israel as well. (Does Rahm Israel Emanuel now know about this?)

Arthur Liebman concluded that Jews were 46 percent of the delegates at the 1966 SDS convention. They were equally important in the movement's leadership including Richard Flacks, Al Haber, Robb Ross, Steve Max, Mike Spiegal, Mike Klonsky, Todd Gitlin, Kathy Boudin, Bettina Aptheker, and Mark Rudd, (who came to national prominence as leader of the student takeover of the President's office at Columbia University.) Between 1960 and 1970, five of the nine SDS presidents were Jewish (Haber, Gitlin, Spiegel, Klonsky and Rudd (Rudinsky) - and other active members such as Eleanor Raskin née Stein, Susan Stern, Sam Karp, Russell Neufeld, Ted Gold, Susan Rosenberg and Bob Tomashevsky that partcipated in WUO bombings.

The Viet Nam War and the army draft is over, but yet the Weathermen Underground is still hell bent on further destruction.

The Weathermen began quarreling. One faction, including Kathy Boudin, wanted to join the Black Liberation Army (faction of the Black Panthers). Others, including Ms. Dohrn and Bill Ayers, favored surrendering.

1976 - The FBI's Chicago Field Office prepared a summary which described the activities of the (WUO) Weathermen Underground Organization. The FBI's analysis of its motivations, beliefs, and international travels were outlined in their summary.

Many Weather Underground members start turning themselves in after taking advantage of President Jimmy Carter’s amnesty for draft dodgers.

1977 - While living underground like hunted dogs, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn had their first child. A baby boy they named Zayd Osceola Dohrn (a Muslim name) in honor of the Black Panther terrorist Zayd Shakur, who was killed in a shootout with police.

Middle name: Osceola, named after the Seminole chief who sheltered runaway slaves.

The child she named her son after (Zayd Shakur) had been pulled over by the police four years earlier on May 2, 1973 at about 12:45 a.m. - Zayd Malik Shakur and Assata Shakur were stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike by State Troopers James Harper and Trooper Werner Foerster for a broken tail light. A scuffle ensued [facts unclear]. There was a shootout and trooper Foerster was shot twice in the head with his own gun and killed. Zayd Shakur was also killed, and Assata Shakur and Trooper Harper were wounded.

1977 - Plot by the Weathermen to bomb the office of John V. Briggs, a conservative California state senator is foiled.

1977 (November) - Five WUO members are arrested on conspiracy to bomb California State Senator, John Brigg's offices. It is later revealed that the Revolutionary Committee and PFOC had been infiltrated, and the arrests were the results of the infiltration.

1978 - Now Living in New York

1978 - Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn left San Franciso and moved to NYC. He first worked as a baker and then eventually (as Tony Lee) full-time at B.J.'s Day Care (2 classrooms it rented from PS # 9 at Amsterdam and 84th, NYC, New York) where he was earning $200 a week. He had found B.J.'s while looking for a place for his son Zayd who was only one-year old at the time. They lived, much of the time, in a two-bedroom, $246-a-month apartment, on the top floor of a five-story walkup (520 West 123rd Street). She worked at an infants' clothing store (Broadway Baby after July 1979) and as a part-time waitress. While still underground, both their children had been delivered at home.

1978 - Bernardine Dohrn's sister, Jennifer Dohrn, filed a civil lawsuit against Felt and Miller. Mark Felt, who was exposed as Deep Throat, was convicted for ordering COINTELPRO operations. In 1980 he was convicted for ordering FBI agents to break into the home of Jennifer Dohrn and other associates of the Weather Underground. He was later pardoned by President Reagan. The suit was settled in 1983 out-of-court.

1979 - Dohrn worked as the manager of a baby boutique named "Broadway Baby" at 2244 Broadway, near 80th Street, located on the upper west side of New York (first opened in July ). Customer ID's were stolen and were later used to rent trucks in a the series of robberies that had culminated in the 1981 slaughter in the Brinks Robbery (in which 9 kids lost their fathers, the youngest of which was six-months old.)

On Dec. 28, 1979, information from two customer files was stolen and later used to apply for two driver’s licenses at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraudulent licenses were used to rent getaway cars for the gang from Econo Car where one of the Agents was none other than Dohrn's best friend, Katherine (Kathy) Boudin.

1980 - While still fugitives, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn have their second baby boy, named Malik Cochise Dohrn (A Muslim name) in honor of Malcolm X (aka Malik El-Shabazz). Both children were born at home while they were living underground, so how were birth certificates ever obtained?

• Did a Dr. Alan Berkman (who worked in an
out-patient clinic at Lincoln Hospital) play a role in the births? He was also arrested like Dohrn for contempt of court.
• Was health insurance used to pay for the births and any pediatric care?
• Would legitimate doctors accept CASH for payment of such care and/or hospitalization?
• What IDs did the parents present?
• Are there legal birth certificates for both children?
• Who was the babysitter while Dorhn was working before being jailed, Ayers at B.J. Kids at this time.
• Where was Dohrn and the children when Bill was in the graveyards looking at tombstones for IDs?
• Were there any family photos taken while they were fugitives?
• Why would the authorites allow Dohrn and Ayers to adapt Kathy's son later - and to also take Jeff Jones' son "Thai" when he and his wife Eleanor Raskin were arrested in a raid relating to the Brinks robbery?
• Did Rita Jenson (Boudin's roommate) or "Ana Vasquez" (Boudin's babysitter during the Brinks robbery) assist Bill Ayers with the (3) children?

By the mid - 1980s, the Weathermen Underground, as it had previously existed, was essentially history. Were the hippies from 1969 and Woodstock starting to feel the aches and pains of getting old? No.

Some former Weathermen Underground members founded the "May 19 Coalition" (a new off-shoot of the "Weathermen Underground"). Reminds me of what ACORN and all those "Green" groups do today...they change their names but not their colors. Our present gangs around the country do this as well.

Kathy Boudin later joined a band of thugs (CED) associated with the Black Liberation Army (BLA) - an offshoot of the Black Panther Party (BPP) and the "May 19 Coalition" (remnants of the Weathermen). The "May 19 Coalition" was named after the May 19 births of Malcolm X and Ho Chi Minh, but was also Kathy Boudin's birthday too.

1980 (July) - Former WUO member, Cathy Wilkerson surfaces in New York City and is charged with possession of explosives arising from the 1970 townhouse explosives.

November 27, 1980 A woman who has lived on the West Side of Manhattan for two years has been identified as Bernardine Dohrn, the fugitive leader of the radical Weather Underground. Bernardine Dohrn had listed an address of 520 West 123rd Street New York NY, two blocks above Columbia University Teachers College.

"A woman who has lived on the West Side of Manhattan for two years has been identified as Bernardine Dohrn, the fugitive leader of the radical Weather Underground..."

Dohrn, accompanied by Bill Ayers, surrendered on Dec 3, 1980 in Chicago with their two children in tow. Upon her arrest she said: "I remain committed to the struggle ahead. I regret not at all our efforts to side with the forces of liberation..." (bla,bla,bla...)

(Richard Daley was then Attorney General before becoming mayor, and cut their deal.)

Paid bail - Set a Court date - Stayed at Bill Ayers' brother's ( John S. Ayers) place at 2473 North Albany, Chicago (top flat).

Two days later, Dohrn, Ayers and their two young sons, flew to Florida to see Dohrn's family over the Christmas holidays. The FBI had maintained close surveillance on her parents for the last ten years while she had been on the run...watching their home...wire-tapping their phones...

Her father was sometimes taken out in the middle of the night to identify strange bodies, just in case one might be hers.

Later Dohrn and Ayers were back in Chicago to pay her $1,500 fine and recieve her 3 year probation.

Ms. Dohrn had pleaded guilty to the original "Days of Rage" charge, received three years probation, and was fined $1,500 - the Federal charges against Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn had already been dropped because of what Ayers described as "extreme governmental misconduct" during the long search for them while they were fugitives. (It had been an improperly issued warrant for a wire tap - rendering it illegal...a legal technicality).

Thomas Ayers (Bill's father) had provided him with a very good legal defense.

1981 - (August) Barack Obama arrives in New York City from Occidental College in Los Angeles to attend Columbia University after his 20th birthday.

Before arriving at Columbia University from Oxy, Obama spent about three weeks that summer in Pakistan - traveling with Wahid Hamid and staying in Karachi with Mohammed Hasan Chandoo's family - two wealthy Pakistanis Obama knew. When Obama arrived in New York, he already knew Siddiqi - a friend of Chandoo's and Hamid's from Karachi who had visited Los Angeles while Obama was at Oxy.

During this time there is still a flurry of protest activity going on at the Columbia University.

Obama won't release his Columbia transcript or identify a single fellow student, teacher, co-worker, roommate, or friend from those years...and few admit remembering him from there either (but they still do at Occidental College.)

There is not a single picture of Obama in any of the yearbooks from this period when he was a student at Columbia University - and he is not even listed as 'absent' in the BSO photo from 1983. I read one source that said he had written a thesis on Soviet nuclear disarmament.

1981 (September) - Bill Ayers is enrolled at Bank Street College (NYC) while his father, Thomas Ayers, was on the Bank Street College board of
directors AND was working at B.J.’s Kids, a day-care center on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

1981 (September 21) - Springboks - South African rugby league office in Schenectady New York was bombed - former Weathermen Underground members protesting anti-Apartheid are suspected.

1981 (September 26) - A group of anti-Apartheid protesters from New York showed up at John F. Kennedy Airport where a member of the "May 19 Coalition" (a splinter group composed of "former" Weathermen Underground members) threw "acid" and a policeman named Evan Goodstein was blinded.

The war is long over: The Weathermen Underground is no longer advocating an "anti-war" philosophy...now they're just common criminals, waging their own war.

1981 (October 20) - The Brinks robbery by several former members of the Weathermen Underground netted $1.6 million from a Brinks armored car at the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet, New York killing two police officers: Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown, and one Brinks guard, Peter Paige. By now it became very clear that the student protest movement of the 1960's had deteriorated into cold blooded murder and naked criminality.

Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, David Gilbert, Kathy Boudin, and "Barry" Obama all lived, worked, and went to school within close proximity of one another at the same time.

A woman named Eve Rosahn was arrested (with Jeff Jones and others) for both the Schenectady bombing and the attack at Kennedy Airport Kennedy Airport - and she was ALSO arrested for her involvement in the October 1981 Brinks Robbery, which is generally considered as the last attack carried out by the remnants of the SDS / Weatherman Group / Weathermen Underground / May 19 Coalition.

*Interestingly, on Oct. 23, 1981 when Eleanor Raskin and Jeff Jones were caught up in the police sweep of individuals suspected of participating in the deadly robbery of an armored truck, they allowed a friend (who?) to take custody of their four-year-old son. In December 1981, a week before the couples’ sentencing, they were married legally. At the December 17, 1981 sentencing, Jones received probation and community service, while the charges against his wife (Raskin) were dismissed. Among the half-dozen friends and supporters who watched from the court gallery as Jones submitted his plea were Ms. Raskin, former Weather Underground leader Bernadine Dohrn, and Jones' parents. Earlier, when Ms. Raskin came to the gallery and told the group about the pending agreement, Ms. Dohrn clutched her arm and said, "That's so good. Maybe we will have a nice Thanksgiving."

Proximity of JFK attacks to Columbia University and where bomb-making material was later found in Hoboken that Eleanor Raskin was arrested for in the JFK attacks AND the Brinks robbery.

During the Brinks robbery Kathy Boudin had been living in New York with a *roommate and her son. She worked as an agent for Econo-Car (an employment which facilitated the theft of vehicles for use in armed robberies) and used aliases which included Lynn Adams, Elizabeth Ann Hartwell, and Barbara Edson.

*One of the "getaway" cars (yellow/light tan Honda) was registered to Eve Rosahn and the red Chevy van used in the robbery had been rented from a car rental agency (Econo-Car) located near Rosahn's residence by an individual fitting Rosahn's description. A rental agreement was later found bearing her name.

*Kathy's roommate was Rita Jensen, 38, a reporter for the Stamford (Conn.) Advocate, told her paper that for the past 20 months she had shared a Manhattan apartment with Boudin and the fugitive's one-year-old son Chesa. Jensen says that she did not know the history of the woman she knew as Lynn Adams, and that she believed her roommate was supporting herself as a waitress. City officials said that Boudin, using the name Adams, had been collecting $355 a month in welfare benefits.

Two of those involved in the Brinks robbery (Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert) were very good friends of Ayers and Dohrn. When Boudin and Gilbert later received life prison sentences for their roles in the Brinks robbery, Ayers and Dohrn became legal guardians for Chesa Boudin, their 14-month-old son. Ayers and Dohrn later had adopted him.

(Dorhn and Ayers took care of Kathy Boudin's AND Eleanor Raskin's children - Chesa and Thai...doesn't anyone besides me find this odd?)

All the safe houses that the Brinks suspects visited after the robbery were analyzed and processed by crime scene technicians. Many fingerprints were lifted and many suspects were identified, which led police to several other members of the Weathermen Underground and the Black Liberation Army...all within close proximity of Manhattan...

...and all near Barack Obama, who was living with his room-mate at 142 W 109th St, # 3E, New York, NY 10025 at this exact same time...just 350 yards away from Bernardine Dohrn's apartment at 520 West 123rd Street, NYC, New York 10027

1982

Most of the people later arrested were living in Charlie Rangel's district - just north of Cenrtal Park in the Bronx.

On January 20, 1982 - Donald Weems AKA Kuwasi Balagoon was arrested in the Bronx NYC.

On March 26, 1982 - Chui Ferguson and Edward Joseph AKA Jamal Baltimore were arrested in the Bronx NYC.

Two other suspects, Jeffrey Jones and Eleanor Raskin (former members of the Weathermen Underground), were arrested in the Bronx NYC for bomb-making material found in Hoboken (across the river).

The leader of the Brinks robbery, Jeral Williams AKA Mutulu Shakur, had fled the New York area and was later arrested in 1986 in LA - where Occidental College is located.

Cynthia Boston was one member that was later arrested in Gallman, Mississippi - though she did not actively participate in the robbery, she was charged with conspiracy in the Brinks robbery.

There were others that did participate, but the police have been unable to identify them. (Weatherman Underground's code of silence)

There is no statutory limit for murder!

NOTE:This blogger used to live in NYC and knows it very well. Any point in any of the five boroughs of New York City (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) can be accessed quickly and easlily using a subway, blending in with a million other people at any given time.

So few people have come forward to acknowledge that they even knew Obama during his years at Columbia University (only 4 that I know of). Even Barack Obama himself can not (or will not) name or identify a single fellow student, co-worker, teacher, girlfrind, or drinking buddy from those years. Obama glosses over this period of time in his life. But oddly, at Occidental College (also known as "Oxy") they remember him there!

People I've found: There are four people who remember Obama at Columbia University. One was a classmate, Wayne Root, who says: "All my classmates were radical Marxists and Socialists looking to destroy capitalism and to tax and unionize businesses to death...and they all celebrated like it was New Years upon hearing the news that President Reagan had been [shot]."

On May 19, 1982 - Bernardine Dohrn had to serve 7 months in a NYC federal jail for refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating the earlier mentioned Brinks robbery of 1981, in which two policemen and a security guard were killed. Miss Dohrn was cited for contempt and jailed rather than testify and provide a hand writing sample to a grand jury. (They asked her to write the words "Martha K. Powell", and she refused.)

As an aside: Talk about coincidences! Dohrn began serving her 7 month stint in jail on May 19 - - - The "May 19 Coalition" - - May 19 births of Malcolm X and Ho Chi Minh - - Kathy Boudin's birthday.

Most of those that were already identified as members of the Weathermen Underground were either caught or still on the run for the Brinks robbery.

1982 (December 6) - Bill Ayers was co-featured with the owner of a children's day-care center named B.J.'s (B.J. Richards) in an article in the New York Magazine dated December 6, 1982. B.J. Richards (35 at the time) had 25 enrollees aged 1 to 4 years old. Bill Ayers (37 at the time) was also attending Bank Street College at this time.

*It was Bill Ayers brother who lived in Logan Square, Chicago before Dohrn surrendered - NOT Ayers and Dohrn. They may have stayed with him while Dohrn surrendered. But Dohrn and Ayers were STILL living and working in New York City during this time. B.J. Richards latter located there in 1988 when Ayers and Dohrn moved to Hyde Park.

In 1982 (December 23) - Dohrn was released early from jail. Dohrn and Ayers may have been married during a furlough (rumoured).(See more about the 1981 Brinks’ Robbery below)

Also in 1982 - Sometime late this year Obama had moved from the Upper Westside at 142 West 109th Street to 339 East 94th Street # 6A, NYC where he received a phone call about his father’s death from a car accident..."several months after my 21st birthday." Obama claimed he had briefly been room-mates with his best friend Sohale Siddiqi (aks Hal Siddiqi) who Obama described as "a short, well-built Pakistani" who smoked marijuana and snorted cocaine."

1983

1983 - Obama graduated from Columbia University and he continued to live in NYC 2 more years after he graduated. Obama has said he's forgotten specifics of his youth, but he does say in his memoir that he lived in a "Yorkville apartment, on East 94th Street between First and Second Avenues".

After graduating he worked at New York Public Interest Research Group, "a nonprofit organization that promotes consumer, environmental and government reform". He became a full-time organizer at City College at 160 Convent Ave at West 135th Street in Harlem NY, paid slightly less than $10,000 a year to mobilize college student volunteers (incite campus protests?)

Afterwards, he worked at Business International Corporation. While there, he had an office debate with his co-worker, William Millar over whether to trade with South Africa during apartheid. Obama "made some comment like there should be a boycott of any company doing business there," recalled William Millar, a writer for the money report. "I said he needed to realize that it's the non-South African companies who were hiring blacks and giving them positions of authority with decent pay. That's what accelerates change - not isolation."

*I read that Business International Corporation has a long association with the world of intelligence, covert actions, and attempts to penetrate the radical left - including Students for a Democratic Society. And supposedly when Bernardine Dohrn heard that Obama was working there, she wasn't very happy.

As an aside: Charlie Rangel had been in Harlem too at this time, as the U.S. Representative of the Sixteenth District of NYC with an annual salary of $72,600.

Also in 1983 - Bernardine Dohrn: Though later refused admission to the New York bar in 1985 after passing the bar exam in 1984, because of her prior criminal conviction *she became a legal clerk (some say "associate") at Sidley & Austin's New York law office (787 Seventh Avenue, New York, New York 10019) - the same year Obama graduated from Columbia University. Bill Ayers is also in NYC earning a degree M.Ed from Bank Street College in Early Childhood Education and most likely still at B.J.'s - IRS should have tax records for all employees working there all through this time as should the New york School District since it was funding the school.

(*Years later, Howard Trienens, then managing partner of Sidley & Austin, had told the Chicago Tribune that he had arranged the hiring of Dohrn as a favor to his fellow Northwestern University trustee and classmate, Thomas Ayers [Bill Ayers' father]. Thomas Ayers' firm, Commonwealth Edison, had used Sidley as outside counsel for many years.)

1984

1984 - As an aside: David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel worked together for Democrat Paul Simon's 1984 election to the U.S. Senate.

Also in 1984 - (December 22) - Bernhard Goetz shoots four black thugs (Barry Allen, Troy Canty, James Ramseur and Darrell Cabey) from the Bronx on a subway. All of the youths have committed serious crimes in the time since that shooting except for Cabey, who remains paralyzed. James Ramseur later brutally raped, sodomized, beat, and robbed a pregnant nineteen year-old. He was convicted.

1985

April 4, 1985 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Anniversary

Coinciding with the April 4th King anniversary, several hundred students at Columbia University in New York City began a blockade of a campus building to demand that the university divest itself of $32.5 million in stock of companies doing business in South Africa. Given Obama's belief's at the time regarding anti-apartheid, it's assumed that he may have attended this rally. That same day Charlie Rangel was arrested in the Washington DC anti-apartheid protest in front of the South African embassy.

1985 (May 7) - Columbia University finally relented and agreed to stop investing in South Africa.

1985 - SOMETIME this year Obama pops up in Chicago to work as a community organizer at the DCP (Developing Communities Project) and becomes the director for the next 3 years. DCP received a $25,000 grant from the Woods Fund of Chicago.

Note: In another post I did about David Axelrod, David's mother says, "That's when he [David] first met Obama, who was then a community organizer."

1985 - Obama arrived in Chicago with an ambition to help the poor - and maybe, to become a writer. He liked to talk about "social change".

Hired by Gerald Kellman, Obama Worked for the Developing Communities Project as a community organizer - working with older women, organizing black churches on the industrial poverty-wracked South Side. He bought a beat-up Honda.

Also in 1985 ACORN opened it's first branch office in Chicago during this year - Later Obama, as their lawyer, will help to sue banks to ease lending restrictions for minorities to buy houses without down payments (later helping to bring about the collapse of the housing market in 2008 with Freddie and Fannie).

...after restrictions were eased.

Also in 1985 - Bill Ayers transfers from Bank Street College (NYC) to Columbia University (NYC).

1986

1986 - Obama is in Chicago (working for DCP) but Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn are still in NYC (he still in school, and she still at Sidley & Austin's NYC branch law office.)

1987

1987 - Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn Leave NYC and Move to Hyde Park in Chicago

1987 - After Bill Ayers *graduated from Columbia University (NYC) he and Bernardine Dohrn both moved back to Chicago (2 years after Obama already has). Bernardine Dohrn transferred from Sidley & Austin's office in NYC to Sidley & Austin's Chicago branch office (address: One South Dearborn, Chicago, Illinois 60603) where she worked until 1988 - 1988, the same year that Michelle Obama (nee Robinson) firsts started working there.

Bill Ayers, while at Columbia University, earned 2 degrees - an M.Ed from Teachers College, Columbia University in Early Childhood Education and an Ed. D from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction.

...to this day all the suspects were never identified.

Neither Bernardine Dohrn, Kathy Boudin, David Gilbert, or any other member of the gang that was associated with the robbery, has ever identified the others involved. That has always been their 'code of honor'. None of them have ever informed on another - with the exception of one FBI undercover informer mentioned earlier. Who got away?

Was it someone who had become...."fearful of fulfilling a stereotype, a junkie, a pothead...that's where I'd been headed...the final fatal role of the young would-be black man.

Also in 1987 Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Obama share involvement in the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools on the 57th floor of First National Bank's downtown headquarters ...(many complicated things are going on in the Chicago school system at this time and it would take a seperate post just on this topic alone).

Also in 1987 Valerie Jarrett got her first start in Chicago politics by working for Chicago's first black Mayor Harold Washington - the Chicago Political Machine. (Google Harold)

New York Times: For Day-Care Centers, School Doors Close - By TAMAR LEWIN - Published: Tuesday, July 12, 1988

B.J. Richards, the founder of B.J.'s Kids, a private day-care center, said its fees almost doubled when it lost its space at P.S. 9 on West 84th Street and moved into commercial space in a brownstone on West 85th Street. She moves to Chicago the following year (Logan Square) to become a home day care provider. Now David Axelord, Obama, and Ayers are in proximity...

1988 - Bernardine Dohrn leaves Sidley & Austin (the same year that Michelle Obama nee Robinson first starts working there). Some claim that one of Michelle's co-counsels at Sidley & Austin in Chicago was Bernadine Dohrn at this time. Obama leaves Chicago this year to attend his first year at Harvard University...on who's recommedation?

1988 - After leaving Sidley & Austin, Bernardine Dohrn went to work in the office of the Cook County Public Guardian (Chicago)

Bill Ayers first becomes an assistant professor of education at the University of Illinois. Harold Washington is the Mayor of Chicago at this time.

1989

1989 Obama briefly works at Sidley & Austin in Chicago (as a "summer associate" from Harvard) - where he first met his future wife, Michelle Robinson...introduced to him by Valerie Jarrett.

Also in 1989 Bill Ayers now working as a full professor of education at the University of Illinois with Chicago's newly elected Mayor Richard M. Daley. (Harold died of a heart attack)

1990 (December 6) - Sentencing date of Weathermen Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans: The last of the Weathermen were sentenced for their role in a string of bombings in the mid-1980s, including bombs that detonated at the National War College, the Washington Navy Yard Computing Center, the Washington Navy Yard Officers’ Club, New York City’s Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, the Israeli Aircraft Industries Building, New York City’s South African Consulate, and the United States Capitol Building.

*Weatherman Elizabeth Ann Duke skipped bail October 1985 and has evaded recapture ever since. She is still a fugitive and wanted by the FBI. If you happen to see here, just give Eric Holder a call.

1990 - Valerie Jarrett starts working in her new job as Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley. (All throughout the 1990's to the present Bill Ayers was a professor at the University of Illinois.)

1990 (November) - While addressing students at a Monday-evening political-science class at the University of Illinois at Chicago, his t-shirt reads: "America is like a melting pot: The people at the bottom get burned and the scum floats to the top."

1991

1991 - "Guilty as hell. Free as a bird. America is a great country," Ayers declares when interviewed by David Horowitz.

1991 - Bernardine Dohrn leaves Cook County Public Guardian and starts work at the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern.

1991 - Valerie Jarrett hires Michelle nee Robinson (who was now engaged to Barack Obama) away from the law firm of Sidley-Austin's Chicago office (where Michelle is now an associate).

Also in 1991 - Barack Obama does associate work for a public interest law firm called Davis Miner Barnhill. Judson Miner is a left wing lawyer in Chicago (who had been counsel to Mayor Harold Washington) and was law school classmates with Bernardine Dohrn at the University of Chicago (both who are from the Class of 1967).

Allison Davis, a former partner in Miner's firm, occupied an office next to Obama's at 14 West Erie Street. "He spent a lot of time working on his book (Dreams from My Father)," Davis recalls. "Some of my partners weren't happy with that, Barack sitting there with his keyboard on his lap and his feet up on the desk writing the book."

In 1978, having attained at least a semblance of ordinary life, Ayers--still a fugitive and using the assumed name Tony Lee--walked into a Manhattan day-care center called B.J.'s Kids. It was as if he had never left the preschool he had taught at a decade earlier. Ayers had come merely to enroll Zayd, but manager B.J. Richards immediately wanted to hire him... 1994 - Obama joins the board of directors of the *Woods Fund of Chicago with Bill Ayers (Obama is the president from 1999 until Dec. 11, 2002.

*The Woods Fund was founded by the Woods family which owned the Illinois-based Sahara Coal Company. It was a major supplier of coal from its mines to major Illinois power companies like Commonwealth Edison, the giant Chicago-based electric power company that was headed by Thomas Ayers (father of Bill Ayers).

Obama endorses Ayers' book "A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court" - Acknowledgement: "...B.J. Richards, a co-madre (a godmother or close female friend) to our three (b.Zayd 1977, b. Malik 1980, and Chesa b.1980) when they were young."

1997- (Nov. 20) Michelle Obama, then dean of student services and director of the University Community Service Center, held a panel at the University of Chicago that featured both Barack Obama and Bill Ayers.

1998

1998 (May) - Barack and Michelle Obama attended several events in the Arab community with anti-Israel speakers including an event where Professor Edward Said gave the keynote speech.

1999 (On August 11) President Bill Clinton offered clemency to 16 members of the FALN. Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder was credited with with an "unconscionable" effort to circumvent the standard pardon process, not consulting with the Department of Justice's pardon attorney and keeping deliberations hidden from the district U.S. attorney and investigative agencies. Weather Underground terrorists Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg were also pardoned.

2000

2000 - As an aside: Rahm Emanuel was named to the Board of Directors for "Freddie Mac". His position earned him at least $320,000, including later stock sales. (The Obama Administration later rejected a request under the Freedom of Information Act to review Freddie Mac board minutes and correspondence during Emanuel's time as a director.)

2001

2001 (On 9 -11) "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he was asked? "I don't want to discount the possibility..." he said. (NY TIMES)

2001 - Bill Ayers published "Fugitive Days", a memoir of his days on the run with Bernardine Rae Dohrn. The absence of Kathy Boudin in the book "Fugitive Days" regarding the The Greenwich Village townhouse explosion is peculiar...

2002

2002 (April) - Ayers, Dohrn, and Obama (now an Illinois State Senator) participated together at a conference entitled "Intellectuals: Who Needs Them?" sponsored by The Center for Public Intellectuals and the University of Illinois-Chicago. Ayers and Obama were two of the six members of the "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis" panel.

2002 - Obama gave a speech at a rally organized by SDS veterans (Students for a Democratic Society - founders of the Weathermen Underground!)

2003

2003 - (Article on Chicago Parents website) - "Over the years, she (B.J. Richards) and her 15-year-old daughter have shared their home with hundreds of families."

2003 (September 17) - Kathy Boudin (whos son *Chesa Boudin, the son that Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn adopted), the one who used to work at a school in the Upper West of New City near Dohrn's place of work and near Dohrn's given home address in 1981 and near the Bank Street College, was released from prison for the 1981 murders in the Brinks robbery.

Upon her release, Boudin said of her early years, "I had an ideology that said essentially, white people, beause of having privilege, are essentially bad."

Later Barrack Obama wrote a letter of recommendation to Dennis Hutchinson, his fellow professor on the University of Chicago law school faculty, on behalf of Kathy Boudin to help her son Chesa Boudin get his Rhodes Scholarship. Obama was his personal reference for this left-wing kid, but he still says that the Chesa's adoptive parents (Bill Ayers and wife) are people that he hardly knows..."just someone from the nighborhood." I’m guessing that’s not what the letter said. Perhaps Professor Hutchinson and Mr. Boudin can clear things up.)

*Chesa is the co-author of a recent apologia for the regime of Venezuelan "left" strong man, Hugo Chavez. Chesa Boudin has worked extensively in Venezuela as "a foreign policy advisor to the Chavez government" - without registering as a foreign agent as required by the U.S. government -- and is co-author of a propaganda book, The Venezuelan Revolution: 100 Questions and 100 Answers. As the Amazon.com book review describes it, the authors: "demonstrate considerable sympathy for Chavez and his efforts, and are ultimately dedicated to revealing Chavez as a legitimately elected patriot bent on social justice..."

Chesa Boudin is seen as a key part of the emerging new "progressive" movement and the resurrected "new SDS (Students for a Democratic Society)" on college campuses. Meanwhile, Ayers and his cohorts have created the Movement for a Democratic Society (MDS), referred to by former Weatherman Mark Rudd as "the SDS old people's auxiliary."

Dohrn said,"..she nor Ayers would ever admit regret about the violent actions the group committed. When you look back at that illegal and immoral war, and the incredible racist behavior at home...bla, bla, bla"

2004
2005

2005 - The Obamas purchase a new home for $1.65 million* ($300,000 below the asking price) in Hyde Park VERY near to Dorhn and Ayers...

The house was bought after Valerie Jarrett had just hired Michelle for the lucrative new job as *Vice *President for Community and External Affairs at the Chicago University Medical Center.

*Coincidently, this is about the amount that was initially stolen in the 1981 Brinks job - but this DEFINITELY IS an odd coincidence!

2006 - In Barack Obama's 2006 bestseller "Audacity of Hope", Obama relates a conversation he had had nearly twenty years earlier (In the 1980's when both he and Ayers were in NYC) with a friend of his, "an older man who had been active in the "civil rights" efforts in Chicago in the sixties." This friend was "one of the few academics" that Obama knew, and Obama listened closely to his advice about law school and a political career beyond. There is a corollary question that begs to be asked: just who is this "older man," the "academic" and veteran "civil rights" activist who wrote a recommendation to help Obama get into Harvard Law?

(And did Bill Ayers also ghost-write the epilogue for Obama's book?) The epilogue identifies Obama's friend as an urban studies professor at Northwestern University. Although Ayers is not known to have teached at Northwestern, his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, has, and Ayers himself presented a paper at Northwestern during the time of Audacity's composition.

In the educational world, if not in the legal one, the radical past of Ayers and Dohrn made them rock stars. An endorsement from Ayers would have carried real weight at Harvard. If he did help Obama get in, it would have made perfect sense for Ayers to guide his protégé through, to get him the gig at Sidley Austin, to help him write "Dreams", to secure him the chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (also confirmed by Diamond), and to launch his campaign for the Illinois State Senate with a fundraiser chez Ayers.

Marxist guerilla insurgency known as FARC: In a Feb. 28 letter, FARC chieftain Raul Reyes cheerily reported to his inner circle that he met "two gringos" who assured him "the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support 'Plan Colombia' nor will he sign the TLC (Free Trade Agreement)."

2007

2007 (February) After first saying he had no intention of running for president, Obama changed his mind and announced his candidacy on the steps of the Old Capitol in Springfield.

2007 (June 8) - Bill's dear ole rich dad, Thomas G. Ayers, died very proud of his son.

1981 Brinks’ Robbery - The Full Story

(I am presently working on a more defined and detailed version...to connect more dots! This version was just copied for your perusal. A work in progress...)

At 9:30 a.m. on October 20, 1981, Kathy Boudin took her fourteen-month-old son Chesa to his baby-sitter, while her husband, David Gilbert, waited in the car. She planned, like any working mother, to pick up her child around 5 p.m. This was not the most realistic of expectations. Kathy's main task for the day was scheduled for 4 p.m. in Nyack, New York, about forty-five miles away. Even were she to finish her work promptly, it would be impossible to drive back over the Tappan Zee Bridge during rush hour, return the van that she was about to rent, and hop on the subway, all within an hour. At the very best, Chesa would have to be collected in the early evening.

But Chesa was never picked up by either of his parents that day. After dropping off their child, Kathy and David drove to the Bronx, rented their U-Haul truck, covered the windows with contact paper, and crossed the river, where they met up with their colleagues.

They waited in a nearby parking lot as her heavily armed accomplices took another vehicle (a red Chevy van) to the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet, New York where a Brinks truck was making a delivery. At 3:55 pm, Brinks guards Peter Paige and Joe Trombino emerged from the mall carrying bags of money. As they loaded the money into the truck, the robbers stormed out of their red Chevy van (with plastic covering the windows) and attacked. One fired two shotgun blasts into the van's bullet proof windshield, while another opened fire with an M16 rifle. Paige was hit multiple times and killed instantly. Trombino was able to fire a single shot from his handgun, but was soon struck in the shoulder and arm by several rounds, nearly severing his arm from his body. The criminals then took $1.6 million in cash, got back in their van, and fled the scene.

Trombino survived his injuries and continued to work for the Brink's company for the rest of his life.

Car swap

After fleeing the scene, the robbers drove to a parking lot where a yellow Honda and the U-Haul truck, manned by members of the May 19 Communist Organization, were waiting. The robbers quickly threw the bags of money into the car and truck and sped away. In a house across the street, an alert college student spotted the robbers as they switched vehicles and called the police.

Meanwhile, police units from all over the county were converging on the mall where the shootout occurred and attempting to cut off all possible escape routes. Soon police officers Edward O'Grady, Waverly Brown, Brian Lennon, and Artie Keenan spotted and pulled over the U-Haul truck, with Gilbert and Boudin in the front seats, along with the Yellow Honda at an entrance ramp to the New York State Thruway off of New York State Route 59. The police were not sure if they had the right truck, since it had been reported that the robbers were all black, while the occupants of this vehicle were white (a deliberate part of the original plan by the robbers, hoping to fool the police). But since the truck matched the description of the getaway vehicle they were looking for, the officers pulled it over and approached with guns drawn.

Second gunfight

The police officers who caught them testified that Boudin, feigning innocence, pleaded with them to put down their guns and convinced them to drop their guard; Boudin said she remained silent, that the officers relaxed spontaneously. After the police did lower their weapons, six of the men in the back of the truck, who were armed with automatic weapons and body armor, surprised the four police officers by emerging and opening fire. Officer Brown was hit repeatedly by rifle rounds and collapsed on the ground. One robber then walked up to his prone body and fired several more shots into him with a 9mm handgun, ensuring his death. Keenan was shot in the leg, but managed to duck behind a tree and return fire.

Officer O'Grady lived long enough to empty his revolver, but as he reloaded, he was shot several times with an M16. Ninety minutes later, he died on a hospital operating table. Meanwhile Lennon, who was in his cruiser when the shootout began, tried to exit out the front passenger door, but O'Grady's body was wedged up against the door. He watched as the suspects jumped back into the U-Haul and sped directly towards him. Lennon fired his shotgun several times at the speeding truck as it collided with his police car.

The occupants of the U-Haul scattered, some climbing into the yellow Honda, others carjacking a nearby motorist while Boudin attempted to flee on foot. An off-duty corrections officer apprehended her shortly after the shoot out. When she was arrested, Boudin gave her name as Barbara Edson.

Kathy Boudin's so (Chesa) was still at the babysitter's apartment; his planned pick-up time was almost precisely the moment when his parents were apprehended. Nine hours later, at around 2 a.m., Kathy was allowed to make a phone call from jail. She rang the home of William Kunstler, the radical lawyer, not the home of Ana Vasquez, the babysitter. Kathy had not forgotten about her son; the next day she finally reached Kunstler, who then called Kathy's father, and, together with their wives, they immediately drove to Nyack. Meeting them in her cell, Kathy asked them to pick up Chesa. It was now almost two full days after the bloody events. We do not know from Susan Braudy's terse, tough-minded, honest, and thoroughly absorbing book when and how Ana Vasquez was relieved of her charge. But we do know that Kathy's parents, understanding that their daughter was likely to be behind bars for some time, considered themselves too old to adopt her child. "We'd never heard of Pampers," Kathy's mother said. "We didn't know how to undo the stickum. The baby was crying." Kathy's fellow revolutionaries Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers decided to adopt Chesa on the spot. Kathy, to her dismay, learned that as a prisoner she had no right to see Chesa, and it was not until January 1983, when he would have been twenty-nine months old, that Kathy, recently transferred to a new prison, was finally allowed to touch her baby.

Arrests

Three other suspects failed to escape. May 19 Communists Chris Dobbs, Samuel Brown, and Judith Alice Clark crashed the Honda while making a sharp turn. South Nyack police chief Alan Colsey was the only officer initially at the scene of the crash, but he managed to keep them held up at gun point until backup arrived. After that, all three were arrested. Inside the car, police found $800,000 from the robbery and a 9mm handgun on the floor of the back seat.

Police traced the license plate on one of the getaway vehicles to an apartment in New Jersey. Inside, the police found weapons, bomb making materials, and detailed blueprints of six Manhattan police precincts. Investigations later revealed the apartment was rented by Marilyn Buck, another former Weatherman turned May 19 Communist who had been previously arrested for providing weapons to the BLA. She had been sentenced to 10 years in prison, but in 1977 she was granted furlough and never returned. While at the apartment, police also found papers that listed an address in Mt. Vernon, New York, a small city in Westchester County about 20 miles from the mall where the robbery occurred. When police raided that apartment, they found bloody clothing, ammunition, more guns and ski masks. Investigation later revealed that the bloody clothing belonged to Buck, who had accidentally shot herself in the leg when she tried to draw her weapon during the shootout with the police.

All the plates on the vehicles seen near the Mt. Vernon address were entered into the NCIC system. Two days later, NYPD detectives spotted a 1978 Chrysler with a license plate that had been seen at the Mt. Vernon Apartment. The vehicle, driven by Samuel Smith and Sekou Odinga, fled from the police when they tried to pull it over. After the vehicle crashed, the two occupants engaged the police in a gunfight that left Smith dead and Odinga captured. Inside Smith's shirt pocket, police found a crushed .38 caliber slug they believe was fired from officer O'Grady's service weapon. Three more participants were arrested several months later, including Weems (Balagoon).

The investigation for the participants in the robbery would continue for years. Buck was arrested in 1985. The last person to be arrested in connection with it was Willams (Shakur), the ringleader of the robbery, in 1986.

Trials and sentencing

Gilbert, Weems, and Clark were the first of the Brinks robbers to go to trial. Because the BLA was known for attempting to break their members out of prison, massive security precautions were undertaken, turning the courthouse in Goshen, New York into a heavily armed compound. All three defendants declined assistance from defense lawyers and chose to represent themselves. Their contention was that since they did not recognize the authority of the United States, the government had no right to put them on trial. Throughout the trial, they repeatedly disrupted the proceedings by shouting anti-American slogans, proclaiming to be "at war" with the government and refusing to respect any aspect of the American legal system. They called the robbery an "expropriation" of funds that were needed to form a new country in a few select southern states that ideally would be populated only by blacks.

When it came time for the defendants to present their case, they called only one witness, Nathaniel Burns (Sekou Odinga), who had already been convicted of multiple bank robberies. He said that his organization was "fighting for the liberation and self-determination of black people in this country." Burns testified that the killings were suitable because the three victims had interfered with the "expropriation". In his view, the theft of money was morally justified because those funds "were robbed through the slave labor that was forced on them and their ancestors." After his testimony, he was praised by the defendants and led out of the courtroom to serve his 40-year federal prison sentence. The jury was not convinced by Burns' reasoning and at the end of the trial, all three defendants were convicted of armed robbery and three counts of murder.

The three defendants received three consecutive twenty-five year-to-life sentences, making them eligible for parole in the year 2058. After the trial, Weems claimed, "As to the seventy five years in prison, I am not really worried, not only because I am in the habit of not completing sentences or waiting on parole or any of that nonsense but also because the State simply isn't going to last seventy five or even fifty years." However, it turned out that he only had four years left himself. He died in prison from AIDS in 1986. Gilbert and Clark remain in prison to this day. In September of 2006, Clark was granted a new trial by a judge in a district court on grounds that she had no representation at trial. The government countered that Clark chose to represent herself and not recognize the authority of the court, and thus has appealed the ruling.

Unlike their fellow robbers, Boudin and Brown attempted to mount a legal defense. Boudin hired Leonard Weinglass to defend her. Weinglass, a law partner of Boudin's father, arranged for a plea bargain and Boudin pled guilty to one count of felony murder and robbery, in exchange for a single twenty year-to-life sentence. She was paroled in 2003. However, Brown was unable to reach any deal that would spare him a life sentence. Since he had nothing to lose by going to trial, he decided to have one. At his trial, he claimed to have only had a minor participation in the robbery and had not fired a weapon at anyone. The jury was not convinced. In addition to being caught in the escape attempt with the other robbers, witnesses identified him as a participant in both shootouts. He was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison.

Buck was later convicted of multiple charges related to the Brink's robbery and other crimes and sentenced to 50 years in a federal prison. Williams (Shakur), the alleged ringleader of the group, was in the last one to go on trial on charges related to the robbery. In 1988, he received a 60-year prison sentence.

The Woods Fund and Allison S. Davis (Mentioned Earlier)

According to a November 29, 2007 report from the Chicago Sun-Times, "Sen. Barack Obama was on the board of a Chicago charity when his former boss, Allison S. Davis, came looking for money. At the time, Davis was a developer represented by the law firm where Obama worked, as well as a small contributor to Obama’s political campaign funds. He wanted the charity to help fund his plans to build housing for low-income Chicagoans."

When Davis approached the Woods Fund, he was building another apartment building with now convicted felon and Obama friend / fundraiser Tony Rezko. The Chicago Sun-Times recounts: "Obama agreed. He voted with other directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago to invest $1 million with Neighborhood Rejuvenation Partners L.P., a $17-million partnership that Davis still operates."

Also serving on the Woods Fund at the time was Palestinian activist and now professor at Columbia University Rashid Khalidi, whose wife headed the Arab American Action Network (AAAN) and is ALSO a neighbor to Obama, Ayers, and Valerie Jarrett's parents in Hyde Park! The Woods Fund granted AAAN $40,000 in 2001 and $70,000 in 2002. Salon magazine wrote, this was "nepotism, Chicago style."

Bill Ayers' San Francisco Days: Another Aspect (Mentioned Earlier)

From my understanding there was a joint task force of FBI agents and San Francisco police that were pushing to bring Bernardine Dohrn (Bill Ayres wife) to trial,” (Larry Grathwohl, a former FBI informer said. “There was a reporter that called me about the same time and he was from the San Francisco Chronicle and he wanted to talk to me. I guess they had heard rumors that this was going on. At the time, the FBI and the San Francisco police department had asked me to keep mum on it because of the sensitivity of what they were trying to do and the information they were trying to gather.” Grathwohl had personal knowledge of the bombing, having testified before Congress that Ayers told him at the time he was in the terrorist organization and that Dohrn had personally planted the devastating bomb.

The inside of the San Francisco Police station looked like it had been hit by a couple of hand grenades, windows shattered, blood on the pock-marked walls and dazed cops wandering around disoriented. The bomb was so powerful that fragments, which consisted of barbed wire and fence post staples (horse farm stuff), were found on the roof of Polytechnic High School which was located across Kezar Stadium and Frederick St., approximately two blocks away. Polytechnic High School was three stories high.

Larry Grathwohl, the FBI mole within the Weathermen, connected Ayers to the planning — and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, to the execution— of the police station bombing in San Francisco on February 16th 1970 that killed one officer and injured two others. Grathwohl testified that Ayers had discussed the deadly incident after the fact. The revelation came as Ayers was talking about the organizational difficulties in running a terrorist cell: He cited as one of the real problems that someone like Bernardine Dohrn had to plan, develop, and carry out the bombing of the police station in San Francisco, and he specifically named her as the person that committed that act.

Terrorists Petition for a President

Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn had old friends listed as signatories on an online petition supporting Barack Obama for President - Four former members of SDS and the Weathermen: Howard Machtinger, Jeff Jones, Steve Tappis, and Mark Rudd.

Machtinger was a Weathermen founder and was co-author of the terror group's original mission statement.
Jeff Jones was elected along with Bill Ayers and Mark Rudd to the SDS national office.
Tappis was one of 11 people who signed the original Weathermen statement.
Mark Rudd worked to form the Weathermen as a radical alternative to the SDS.

Actor Danny Glover (Black Students Union) appearances on Hugo Chavez's television and radio talk show.

1) Why was Weather-member Cathy Wilkerson sentenced to three years for illegal possession of explosives in the Greenwich Village explosion, but Weather-leaders Ayers, Dohrn, Mark Rudd and Jeff Jones were never even charged, although all were admittedly involved?

2) There is no statute of limitations for bombing Federal buildings. Weather-member Laura Whitehorn got 20 years for being part of a conspiracy in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Capitol. In his book, Fugitive Days, Ayers admitted being part of a Weatherman conspiracy that bombed the Capitol and the Pentagon in the 1970s. The book came out in 2001, during a Republican administration. Why is Ayers writing from Hyde Park instead of Leavenworth?

3) In 1984, Weather-member Susan Rosenberg was sentenced to 58 years for illegal possession of weapons (she served 16 before Clinton pardoned her). In 1982, Weather-leader Jeff Jones and wife Eleanor Raskin were arrested on a 1979 charge of running a New Jersey bomb factory, plus illegal flight. Multiple felonies. She was released on $100,000 bail; he was kept in jail.

What was Jones' final sentence? 18 months probation plus 6 months community service, as if he were a petty thief arrested for the first time.

Jones' explanation?

"'The judge, I believe, saw us as a family that was coming out the other side of this political experience,' Jeff recalled recently."

Ah, of course. No judge would jail a struggling bomb factory proprietor with a family. (After all, the judge has a family too.)

4) On February 16, 1982, star New York Times journalist M. A. Farber reported evidence that Bernardine Dohrn was an accessory in the Brink's-Black Liberation Army gang's crimes. Dorhn never sued the Times or even protested; the Times never retracted; the government never charged Dohrn. Why?

Why have the Weathermen been jailed in inverse proportion to their positions of leadership?

And why are the New York Times and other leading establishment media giving tens of millions of dollars worth of free, indeed reverent, publicity to Bill Ayers, a top leader of a group which the Times accurately described in 1981 as lunatics targeting working people?
