OIL RULES - 99ERS DROOL

This morning Fox News' 4th Top Story on their RSS news feed was about snakes. 2nd was about the oil spill. NOTHING was mentioned about the jobs numbers.
Source:
http://www.fox11online.com/dpps/news/strange/n-tx-sees-more-snakes-than-usual-_3382580

It says, "North Texas sees more snakes than usual." (Seeing snakes?) "Experts credit rainy weather for more snakes than usual slithering about in North Texas yards and ponds."

The Fox News Business web site listed the oil spill as 1st, 4th, 5th as leads in their headlines (better to bash the Dems) - but nothing was mentioned about the jobless.

Wall Street Journal gave the oil spill the number 3 spot in their headlines for their rss news feed. But again, nothing was said about the job numbers.

The New York Times says something:

"Economists say it takes about 3 percent growth to create enough jobs just to keep up with the population increase. Growth would have to be about 5 percent for a full year just to drive the unemployment rate down 1 percentage point. Economists do not see that happening this year."
(Last week we just had 460,000 new applications for unemployment benefits?)
Source:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/28/business/economy/28econ.html

New York Times again today:

"Economists predict the United States will pitch into another recession soon. A double-dip recession is a genuine risk."
Source:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/26/business/economy/26recession.html

Meanwhile, Senator John Kerry and his wife's catsup company (H.J. Heinz Co. - HNZ) has taken a slight tumble with the DOW JONES lately.
(So let's feel sorry for the millionaires today!)

Show me the money!

$64.6 billion to preserve elevated Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors - but NADA for people such as the 99ers, who have NO INCOME AT ALL!
(I thought humble doctors were just about saving people - didn't they take an oath?)

Yes, Obama-Care created healthcare for 30 million poor people, while another 30 million are either under or unemployed, and lost their employer-provided healthcare coverage.

"And States are facing gaping education budget gaps that could lead 300,000 educators to lose their jobs over the summer -- such layoffs are not the kind of policy that is helpful in an unemployment crisis."
(Only 99ers must die!)

OH! But state governors are considering spending measures such as "foregoing salary increases".
(I'd just be happy with my measly little $390 a week! We 99ers aren't greedy!)

But the labor unions get theirs! Yes, let the American taxpayers pay for huge union pensions, but let the 99ers starve! Great idea!

WHAT DOES THIS SAY? - From Charles Schwab newsletter
(How do you like the way they word it?)

Weekly initial jobless claims declined 14,000 to 460,000, versus last week's figure which was upwardly revised by 3,000 to 474,000, and compared to the consensus estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg, which called for claims to decline to 455,000. The four-week moving average, considered a smoother look at the trend in claims, rose 2,250 to 456,500, and continuing claims fell by 49,000 to 4,607,000, compared to the decline
to 4,613,000 that was anticipated.

And thieves continue to get away with bilking taxpayers

A.I.G. - First, last week the Feds let Joe Cassano (in A.I.G.'s London office) off the hook, and now taxpayers have to eat $49 billion in bailouts for them. And they're saying "saving A.I.G. was a good investment."

BULL! Joe and the other company officers walked away with millions, while the taxpayers got stuck with billions ...how is THAT a good investment for us? They must think Americans are stupid!

Maybe we SHOULD have bought gold instead of bailing out A.I.G. for an investment!

Mexican Immigrants Take Jobs that Americans Don't Want

Myth or Fact?

It's true.

However, there's much more to this argument than just the perception that Americans are too "uppity" and the immigrants are more "humble" when searching for jobs - and that immigrants who are new to this country are more willing to take ANY job just to survive, whereas the average American who has been born and raised in this country has been acclimated to a certain economic environment (standard of living).

An average 18 year-old fresh out of high school in America is not going to take the same job as an illiterate un-schooled person in an over-populated Bangladesh. As American citizens, we have expectations of our place in society and we are born into a capitalist system.

Immigrants take the lower paying jobs that Americans only pass over if they can find higher paying jobs. Sometime immigrants have limitations that make them less valuable to an employer such as a language barrier. Many times employers exploit their status as "illegal alien" to force them into accepting less desirable wages...further undermining the pay scales for all the other average working Americans.

Inside the Life of the Migrants Next Door

But immigrants take jobs in America that pay 3X more than they normally would get in Mexico, but are still less than the average American median wage. On this scale, everybody is a winner. American dollars earned in America and sent to Mexico go a lot farther than if one tried to live on the same wages here.

Going back to the Dust Bowl when immigrants were migrant farm workers, Americans took jobs like construction work, which paid more.

Immigrants also worked in factories called sweatshops before the child labor laws were passed.

The unions were born, and fair wages, better hours, and better benefits were bargained for.

Today manufacturing jobs have been out-sourced to India and China for cheaper labor and less benefits for their workers.

Chinese Factories

The wages for these type of jobs that Mexican immigrants usually take - when they first enter the American workforce - have been artificially suppressed for years.

Not for "jobs that Americans don't want to do", but for the jobs that paid less. If the local car wash paid $30 an hour and offered a 401k plan, dental car, health care and paid vacations, how many of those jobs would Americans pass over? Zero.

If McDonalds offered a $1 commission for every cheeseburger a counter-person sold (verses paying the legal minimum wage), how many Americans would pass up that job? Not me!

The rich people in Malibu California might pay their immigrant gardeners $10 a hour for a job that "Americans don't want to do", but if there were no immigrant workers, and American workers demanded $30 an hour, the people in Malibu would be paying this...Pamela Anderson wouldn't be out in her yard pulling weeds, I would be!

But the elite rich, because of greed, artificially kept the cost of labor suppressed, as opposed to the current standard of living for an average American in this country. Gardeners might be earning $25 an hour with a comprehensive healthcare plan if not for the likes of Pam.

* This is one way how the rich try to hold on to their mansions by the beach after they've mis-managed their fortunes or lost their ability to produce more income; and after their property taxes go up and the costs for the upkeep rises.

Now Pam Anderson lives in a trailer!

Also, look at what the United Auto Workers earn - (a factory job on an assembly line) - including benefits and pensions...about $75 a hour. If the immigrant gardeners in southern California united under a union like the AFL-CIO or UAW, they would be paid more than $10 a hour - probably more like $20 an hour ($40,000 a year - a "living wage"). Maybe more in Malibu where the cost of living is much higher.

After the unions obtained "living wages" for the average American worker, over the years corporations used the strategy of moving jobs overseas to avoid U.S. government regulation and limitations, lower payrolls, and less taxes (I suppose these big "multi-national" companies preferred that all their workers lived in squalor). But our government allowed this.

Remember when companies used to build cheap "housing" for their workers and paid them with company "tokens" to be spent at the company store? Interesting history.

Meanwhile, because of this, over the years the union membership began declining, and the unions saw immigration as a way of refreshing their rank-and-file membership - to enrich the union bosses with union dues (monthly payments made by the workers for the union bosses' efforts at "representing" them.)

That's why unions like the AFL-CIO and SEIU are for "amnesty". They also complained of the out-sourcing of jobs and how they will never return.

Union programs were created for a fast path to citizenship for immigrants, teaching English and training them in the jobs that Americans were most likely to reject whenever possible ("jobs Americans don't want to do")...such as kitchen worker positions (i.e. dish washers) and housekeeping positions (i.e. maids) in hotels.

Here in Las Vegas the culinary Union has The Immigrant Workers Citizenship Project, the Culinary Training Academy, and REACH.

And major corporations, working with the unions, provide diversity programs that greatly benefit immigrants was well.

But as the cost of living has gone up, even these wages haven't increased in proportion to the housing market over the last 20 years (despite recent declines). At $15 an hour today for a casino job in Las Vegas, how much is left over after paying rent on an apartment, basic utilities, and for a modest car payment with auto insurance? There's not much left over to spend at the mall...especially if you have someone else to support, like dependent minor children.

This is what is meant when they say "the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer". The cost of living and/or inflation always erases most of any wage gains made by common workers, but the corporate board of directors never suffers this indignity (think of Goldman Sachs).

The CEO doesn't have to move into a multi-dwelling living enviroment to share expenses to survive.

And the current administration's economic polices will raise their taxes and energy costs higher as well...and "the poorer gets poorer still".

As an example: Last year the CEO (Jim Murren) of MGM Mirage made $17 million when the company lost $1.29 billion and laid off workers...just plain ordinary working people who were only making $15 an hour and trying to stay alive.

Running a business badly doesn't mean management has to suffer, only that the common man must bear the burden of colossal mistakes...like MGM's CityCenter.

If I were paid a "living wage" for cleaning toilets, the job wouldn't be "beneath my dignity"!

Now in 2010 with the economy in "said toilet", corporations are cutting back on hours (to avoid paying healthcare benefits, etc), hiring "temps" during busy times, and paying below the "living wage" pay scale because millions are losing unemployment benefits and will be desperate to take ANY job, just to buy food. (The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.)

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole "meltdown" was deliberately orchestrated by "the powers that be" for this very reason. (Google "The Money Masters").

If greedy corporations like MGM paid "fair living wages" for jobs that even Mexicans wouldn't want to do, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat! Give me a mop or shovel and I'd be a very happy guy!

A Vote for Puerto Rico's Statehood PASSED - H.R. 2499

As reported by Glenn Beck, DC insiders passed through a bill that could grant statehood to Puerto Rico. The aim is to empower Puerto Rico and Washington DC by giving Democrats (AKA Progressives) more congressional representation for the Open Borders and Amnesty Lobby.

Here's ALIPAC's DC Directory for your convenience.
http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-63874.html

They may tell you it's not important, that it's just a "non-binding" issue, but tell them NO!

As an aside: The largest increases in jobless claims occurred in Puerto Rico, which didn't provide the Labor Department with an explanation for the rise in today's latest jobs report.

Congress Abandons the Long-term Unemployed

The Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (of Montana, whose panel oversees the unemployment benefits program) says: "I think 99 weeks is sufficient."

It's reported that unemployment costs this year could reach $200 billion (as compared to the U.S. $13.5 trillion economy or $1.2 trillion annual budget).

(20% of the workforce under is either not employed or under-employed...30 million people.)

As taxpayers, you all paid $780 billion in TARP for the banks like Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Bank of America...which doesn't include GM, GMAC, AIG, and Chrysler. Remember all the multi-million dollar parachutes and bonuses?

As taxpayers, you all paid $821 billion (and growing) for waste, fraud, and cronyism for a "Stimulus Package" that hasn't "saved or created" ONE single job...and millions went to districts that didn't even exist!

As taxpayers, your Congress just voted for Obama-Care at a cost of $1.2 trillion (just to start).

As taxpayers, you all paid over $2.3 trillion to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac...and they still need more.

As taxpayers, you paid several billion dollars more for all the other schemes like "Cash-for-Clunkers" and "Cash For Caulking".

Billions more was spent in earmarks (pork spending) for "bridges to nowhere" and local airports with two flights a day serving elitists.

And soon there will be a VAT tax and Cap-and-trade costs on energy too.

But Congress is whining about helping your neighbors in a time of financial crisis? Families who may have lived next door to you or people you once worked with?

Direct your rage at corruption in government and multi-national (American-based) corporations who out-sourced all the jobs - not at unemployed people!

I doubt a job with a "living wage" will be available anytime soon, because THERE IS NO LABOR SHORTAGE. I don't see any CEOs on CNBC complaining about not being able to find enough qualified help. If you see one, please let me know.

Instead, members of Congress (who are earning $174,000 a year) kicks us when we're down, without ever having walked in our shoes.

The next time they see a homeless man, they should think - - -"There but for the grace of God, go I."

And then dig into their weaselly pockets and give the poor guy a dollar...if they're not too cheap.
