Commentary by Bud Meyers
The modern technologies that we currently enjoy today, were mostly made possible by military weaponry...and so it has always been since the dawn of mankind.

The most advanced research made by the brightest people in the world, scientists and the like, made weapons to kill people. That's how we got nuclear energy, and years later, cell phones...through military research and development - which was eventually made available for civilian applications.
Why don't we have more "green" technology? Because "green" isn't deadly on a mass scale.
I'm sure there are some advances being made that will eventually become available that can be applied to green technology, but we will have to allow the natural evolvement of this knowledge until it becomes a reality; we can't force it at the expense of our economy, or on false pretenses for scams or social agendas like "climate change".
If the sea levels rise, so be it - the world will adopt. They rose before and they will rise again. Since the day the earth was created, it has gone through untold changes, and it constantly will...until our sun finally dies...which it one day will. There will be an end to our world...but not tomorrow. And if so, what will be, will be. It's God's will and puny humans can't change that.
The earth goes through natural periods of warming and cooling trends - short term ones and long term ones. But all the polar ice caps on earth won't melt overnight. There is a better chance that we will be hit with an asteroid, or be devastated by a catastrophic volcanic eruption from Yellowstone Park, or even a burst of radiation from our sun or by gamma rays from a super-nova light-years away...but most likely we'll be hit with a pandemic influenza such as Avian flu.
...and then there are the weapons we created (nuclear and biological); and we must also protect ourselves from a dirty bomb in the hands of Islamic terrorists.
But for now, the polar bears are safe. And the people in the lowlands of New Orleans and Florida will have plenty of time to pack their bags.
Let's promote "green" and environmental issues in a responsible way, and within our economic means. Spending trillions of dollars to try and cool the earth by .05 degrees in 100 years is ridiculous when we could be fighting disease and hunger and poverty instead. The world as it is NOW, not a million years from now, is what sane people should be concerning themselves about. The future is nice, but the present is better.
Al Gore made his money already...don't allow lunatics like him to make a second and third pass at the well when so many others are still thirsty. He has his private jet and mansion to enjoy at our expense.
The mountains and glaciers and the Grand Canyon were not created over night, and species have either evolved or went extinct over millions of years, by either Charles Darwin's Natural Selection, or by God-created disasters...and sometimes by man. The entire eco-system didn't collapse when the dodo bird became extinct in the 17th century - - - or when the plains bison (aka American buffalo) stopped roaming the Great Plains in America (Native Americans also contributed to the collapse of the bison, with the Comanche alone killing 280,000 bison a year by the 1830s).
The "eco freaks" weren't complaining about the natural habitats of tortoise and other species when they destroyed thousands of acres of pristine land to lay down inefficient solar panels or to build those ghastly "eye-sores" called windmills - - - oh no, not in MY back yard!
Oil won't last forever either...it took millions of years to make, and we will eventually need alternative sources of energy. But until that time when man has obtained the knowledge and wherewithal to produce this energy ("green" or otherwise), let's responsibly and economically use what we already have (including nuclear), and drill for the oil that still exists. Who knows, maybe one day we will have found the secret to hydrogen fission and have unlimited energy, and making what oil the earth still holds, obsolete.
Then we can finally tell the IPCC, Al Gore, the Middle East, and the liberals to SHUT UP ALREADY!
In the mean time...let's go visit Alaska and get that pipeline at full capacity again. We'll let Al Gore worry about the wild predators in the Artic Circle.
