Do we REALLY need the "Tax and Trade" Bill and Al Gore?
"Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do." ~ Ronald Reagan

Not Evil, Just Wrong is the film Al Gore and Hollywood are working hard to make sure you can’t and don’t see.

First, let's use some plain common sense and put lunatics like Al Gore and reality in some rational perspective...
Al is still bitter from losing an election (he whined like a baby); he's a despicable hypocrite (Big Macs and private jets); and he's a money-monger (playing on your irrational fears to get filthy rich).
...but enough about Al, let's look at a few simple facts.
The Universe is about 13.5 billion years old...our sun and earth are about 4.5 billions years old.
The moon was created shortly thereafter by an inter-planetary collision, and it took only about one year to form. It increased the Earth's rotation from 6 hour days to 24 hour days. The moon is orbiting Earth almost 239,000 miles away, but is slowly escaping Earth's gravity at about a rate of 2 inches a year (it was once 3 times larger in Earth's sky).
So far, our Earth is "middle-aged" and the Universe is still expanding...galaxies are moving farther apart at a faster and faster rate.
Some 2.3 billion years ago, oxygen supported a lot of land-based life on Earth, and then slicked the planet's surface with ice (the snowball earth).
When oxygen levels were much higher, dinosaurs emitted TONS of methane gas before they went extinct about 65 million years ago (at the end of the Cretaceous Period when a huge comet hit the Yukon peninsula). They had lived on Earth for about 165 million years.
The end of the "Eocene" and the "Eocene-Oligocene" transitions marked the most profound oceanographic and climatic changes of the past 50 million years of Earth's history. Earth experienced global cooling beginning in the middle Eocene, with a sharp temperature drop of about two degrees Celsius in the Late Eocene. The global climate changes are commonly attributed to the expansion of the Antarctic ice cap following its gradual isolation from other continental masses. However, multiple extraterrestrial bolide impacts, possibly related to a comet shower that lasted more than two million years, may have played an important role in deteriorating the global climate.
For hundreds of thousands of years the polar ice caps have waxed and waned...the Earth went back and forth from hothouse (greenhouse) to icehouse many times over.
Planet Earth has continued to evolve through many different cycles over millions of years. Earth's angle toward the sun changes due to a natural 26,000-year-long wobble, which causes the planet to spin on is axis like an unstable top, so that a line drawn from the axis would trace a cone in the sky.
We are about in the middle of this cycle

The start of the present warm phase(the "Holocene") followed the sudden ending of the "Younger Dryas" (the last deglaciation of the North Atlantic region, about 10,000 years ago, when the last glacier reaching NYC was twice as thick as the Empire Building is tall), when forests quickly regained the ground that they had lost to cold and aridity. Ice sheets again began melting, though because of their size they took about two thousand more years to disappear completely (when the Great Lakes were formed).
The wobble caused Earth to make its closest pass by the sun in different months over the long term. For the past 7,000 years, Earth has passed closest to the sun in January. This means less sunlight has been hitting the Arctic during its summertime, so the region should be cooling in preparation for the next ice age (about 15,000 years from now)...but man-made global warming (CO2) over the last 50 years has delayed this inevitability for a while longer. (Scientists found that the wobble in Earth's tilt causes Arctic temperatures to drop by about 0.36 degree Fahrenheit every thousand years during a cooling phase.)
Also, the sun has been the least active it's been in decades and the dimmest in a hundred years. The lull is causing some scientists to recall the Little Ice Age, an unusual cold spell in Europe and North America, which lasted from about 1300 to 1850. The coldest period of the Little Ice Age, between 1645 and 1715, has been linked to a deep dip in solar storms known as the "Maunder Minimum". Recent research has been building a case that the sun has a bigger influence on Earth's climate than most theories have predicted.
So, in this vastly huge and misunderstood Universe that has been around for 13.5 billion years, do we puny humans really think we can harness or alterate the forces of Mother Nature...like the weather, earthquakes, volcanic activity, shifting continental plates, comets, evolution, or global warming?
Nuclear armageddon may be one such scenario, and the Earth might experience a couple of years of nuclear winter...but would most likely recover after a couple of decades (though humans might become extinct).
But can made-made carbon emissions destroy our planet? Maybe, but I think not...at least not that much, and not right away; and not soon enough to have to hurry up and pass Obama's Tax and Trade Bill - it will break the back of our economy in 2010.
Two lawyers for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have created a video that is highly critical of the climate change legislation passed by Congress and endorsed by President Obama. "Cap and trade will not create confidence that clean energy will become profitable and so it will not ignite the huge shift in investment needed to begin the clean energy revolution." ~ EPA lawyers Laurie Williams and Allan Zabel
Citing the cap and trade program used in Europe, the two point out that the system that has already been implemented there has raised energy costs and done nothing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, Europe’s emissions have exceeded the caps put in place.
Former United States Vice President Al Gore has been a big proponent of carbon offsets, oftentimes citing his own purchase of them to offset his own large carbon footprint. Such purchases have been made through a company on which he serves as chair, Generation Investment Management. Highlighting the big money involved in carbon offsets, it has been said that Gore will become the first "carbon millionaire" in part thanks to his investments in offset schemes.

Tell Al Gore I watched his propaganda film and I wasn't very worried. Al Gore holds no science degrees from college. Back in 1967 he once took a course on climate science. But the liberals in Sweden jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to him and the "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" in 2007. (And this was more for "political" reasons than for science. Al is one of those "Trilateral" idiots who promotes globalization.)
The International Conference on Climate Change in 2008 (sponsored by the Heartland Institute which aims to bring together global warming skeptics) resulted in the formation of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), which is a group of skeptics led by Fred Singer that disputes the positions of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC - Al Gore's associates). The conference also led to the release of the Manhattan Declaration. The 2009 conference was entirely funded by individual and institutional donations.
The human species hasn't been around all that long (in Earth time) so neither Al nor I will be around to fret much when the planet Earth, and humans as a species, meet their eventual demise. In the mean time, let's just try to get along and have some fun!
...and Al, our sun won't start dying for another 5 billion years, so lighten up and just eat another hamburger...and shut the hell up and quit scaring those nice folks with all your idiotic paranoia!

UPDATE: Nov 12, 2009
Recently on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Al Gore (discussing geo-thermal energy) said that just two kilometers (not American miles) below the surface of earth, it was millions of degrees hot. He was later corrected: At the very core of the earth, where it's the hotest, is guessed to be about 5,000 degrees (the center of a mid-sized star might be 20 million degrees). So who believes what Al ever has to say anyway?
Personally, I just think Al Gore, Barack Obama, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, and Valerie Jarrett have financial interests, rather than an ideological or political ones, for passing the Cap and Trade Bill and the government healthcare bill. Follow the money. I wouldn't trust any of them to take out my TOXIC garbage.
