A Commentary by Bud Meyers
(Think of Obama's "healthcare reform" while reading this.)
Did you know that Michelle Obama was vice president of the University of Chicago Medical Center? (You go girl!)

While there, Michelle Obama helped create a program called the Urban Health Initiative to find doctors for low-income people (who lacked insurance) who were flooding the University of Chicago Medical Center's emergency rooms for medical care. (A very admirable consideration for the vice president of the medical center, don't sha' think?)
The University of Chicago Medical Center hired a firm called ASK Public Strategies. (Why?)
President Obama's top political strategist David Axelrod co-owns the firm called ASK Public Strategies. (Oh-oh!)
The University of Chicago Medical Center hired ASK Public Strategies to sell the program called the Urban Health Initiative. (I think I'm starting to see where this all comes together.)
Michelle Obama and Valerie Jarrett (President Obama's closest friend and senior adviser who also chairs the University of Chicago Medical Center's board) backed David Axelrod firm's hiring. (Surprise, surprise!)
Another Obama adviser and close friend, Dr. Eric Whitaker, took over the Urban Health Initiative when he was hired at the University of Chicago Medical Center. (Coincidence?)
Dr. Eric Whitaker previously had been director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Then "Senator" Obama had said he recommended Whitaker for the State job, giving his name to Tony Rezko (The one who helped Governor Blagojevich assemble his Cabinet - another coincidence?)
Tony Rezko, a former fund-raiser for President Obama and Governor Blagojevich, was convicted in June on federal corruption charges tied to State deals. (No kidding!)
University of Chicago Medical Center officials and Obama's presidential campaign staff said the Urban Health Initiative (along with a companion program called the South Side Health Collaborative) would improve health care for thousands of South Side residents. (And people once thought the world was flat. If Obama's mother were still alive, would she also benefit from this program?)
But what the Urban Health Initiative is really doing is improving the University of Chicago Medical Center's finances. Fewer poor patients are showing up at the emergency room for basic medical treatment and are no longer admitted to the hospital - so that frees beds for more profitable medical procedures that the university prides itself on. (Capitalism at it's best.)
David Axelrod's firm (ASK Public Strategies) found that some of the University of Chicago Medical Center's primary-care doctors feared that the hospital was turning its back on surrounding poor neighborhoods. (Oh-oh!)
So David Axelrod suggested the program's name (Urban Health Initiative) be changed because some participants view the word 'urban' as code for 'black'. (Very observant of you David.)
Michelle Obama must be very proud of her country now...especially since her salary at the University of Chicago Medical Center (though not while on up-paid leave) went to $317,000 a year after her husband became a Senator, and the University of Chicago Medical Center can now be more focused on better profits thanks to Michelle and the hiring of her husband's political advisors. (What exactly is political patronage?)
...and this all makes me wonder. Could Obama's new "healthcare insurance reform bill" really be about enriching people around him, rather than helping us? If they would turn their backs on their fellow Afro-Americans, why would they care about "a guy like me"? (I don't think Michelle or Barak Obama give one damn about any of us.)
I live in Las Vegas and we have the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas (UMC), so locally, we have our own problems - like Harry Reid. (Thank God Pelosi doesn't live here!)
But, like all of Obama's plans, I believe his healthcare initiative is just one more Presidential scam. And he and his wife's hypocrisy leave me stunned.
